Spawning Pike - Matt Knight

Every now and then a photo drops into my email in-tray that makes me instantly sit up and almost stops my breathing. Well, one like that just hit the tray and what a belter of a shot it is too.
Taken by Carp angler Mat Knight from South Wales, this shot captures two pike side by side before spawning. The clarity of the water and the photo is simply breath=taking. Thanks a lot Mat for sharing this with us, it really is appreciated.

Reg Boyall

Not content with the previous fish shown on this gallery, Reg hit the Lincolnshire drains again to land a New PB of 27.04 on the Thursday along with another twenty just a day later weighing in at 24.08. Both fish fell to his favoured bait of lamprey. Nice one mate.
Must get some Lamprey in. Now where's Nev's phone number!

Lee Saunders

I knew that Lee was a little bit 'crackers' after finally meeting him at last years Convention. However the second image shown here just goes to totally prove it!
In Lee's own words "I've always wanted a water shot with a big pike like the carp boys do, now I have one. Hope you like the pics." Mad.....totally mad!

Lee took two pike over 20lb over the weekend on his last dead-bait session of the season. The 1st was 21lb 7oz that he had hooked and lost 5 hours before on a savage lure before finally tempting it to the bank on whole mackeral combined with a bait box feeder. The 2nd fish weighed in at 20lb 12oz and fell to a whole bluey combined with a fox ledger stem

Nice one Lee! Your PAC Cap proudly worn.

Rob Nixon

Rob managed to get out on a glorious winters day (3rd March) and bag no less than 8 pike, with this being the largest at 18lb 02.
Rob stated in his e-mail to me "what a loverly day on the river" and I whole-heartedly agree with a result like that!

Mike Brown

Sometimes the picture says it all.......... like this picture from fellow PAC member David Black from somewhere in deepest Cumbria.

Trevor Jickells

It might be a bit cold out there, but that didn't stop Trevor Jickell from braving the cold to fish a Lincolnshire drain before the sun had even come up. Result was a finely marked pike of 22lb 8oz caught just after dawn.
Trevor followed this up yesterday (26th) with another cracking 21 pounder.....jammy so and so!

Rob Nixon

In Rob's own words!

"Hello Mike, thought i would send you these two pics, same fish. 1st pic caught first time on 6/1/12 at 19lb 12 oz. 2nd pic on caught on 26/1/12 at 23lb 05 oz. no prebaiting not from me anyway. she's put on over 3lb in 20 days. All the best."

It just goes to show how weather and pressure in the right mix can get pike to feed heavily over a short period of time. Combined with what also must be the right levels of prey fish in the water can get fish to put on weight quickly.
Makes you wonder what might happen at Chew after the recent spate of large fish captures, if they introduced a large amount of trout into the water a few weeks prior to the last few dates on the reservoir before the end of the season!

Nigel Fox

Despite the recent chill, member Nigel Fox paid a visit to a pond near Doncaster for a short 3 hour session.
Result was this 19lb pike taken on a float fished smelt. Almost certainly the same fish Nigel caught a year ago at a lighter weight.

Reg Boyall

A stormy 3rd of January didn't stop Reg from getting out there fishing on a Lincolnshire Drain. The result was three nice fish with this being the best on the day which fell to a float legered Lamprey.

Rob Kew

I'm sure some of you will have heard the news that one of our PAC members has landed a huge pike from a Yorkshire reservoir weighing in at 41.08.

Rotherham RO Phil Heaton secured access for local PAC members to fish it and his hunch that it would produce a big fish has payed off big style for Rob Kew.

Full details on its captur will most probably be mentioned in the National Angling Press, first.....but no doubt we'll also give the full story in a future Pikelines as well. Keep dreaming folks, this just goes to prove there are more than a few unknown big girls out there just waiting to be caught!.

Mark Green

Mark's been a busy boy of late, hitting a string of doubles from his local syndicate lake.
A run of luck like that might just tick him off my Christmas card list (If I had one of course!)

Trevor Jickells

Been a while since I posted images on here as I have been very exceptionally busy in the run of to Christmas and the New Year. To make up for it; here's the first of quite a few to come to see you into the New Year in style.

Trevor Jickells starts us off with a
fine 22lb 8oz fish caught from a Lincolnshire drain on a very cold and windy day Christmas Eve.
